Lake and Whitewater Kayaking Activities Available Throughout Summer

The Co-Op Employee Recreation Program plans several lake kayaking trips in cooperation with the OARS adventure company. These are specially guided "employee only" trips on the West Thumb of Yellowstone Lake. All equipment is provided! These trips will begin in June and will run through August. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity!

For those who own their own kayaks, there are a number of lakes in Yellowstone that are ideal for kayaking. Note that you will need to register your craft at a Yellowstone backcountry ranger's office, and there are a number of safety policies you'll need to follow. Note also that kayaking in any stream or river is prohibited in Yellowstone (Lewis Channel being the one exception).

Whitewater Kayaking opportunities are available just outside the park on the Yellowstone, Gallatin, Shoshone, and Snake Rivers. Many companies surounding the park offer guided kayak trips, lessons, and rentals.
