Here are the winners of the 2018 Summer Employee Photo Contest! As always, we thank everyone who entered photos as well as those who came out to vote on your favorites. We had over 330 entries this summer and over 300 employees came out to vote on their favorites. There are so many talented people in the park and we love being able to showcase a very small slice of that talent.
It would be next to impossible to entertain each of Yellowstone’s 4,300 employees with the story of the grizzly you saw cross the Grand Loop Road, or the owl that perched in your camp, but through the Summer Photo Contest you can do just that! After all, a picture is worth a thousand words.
This peer-judged event is our way of sharing and showcasing the spectacular images we’ve caught on film this spring and summer. The contest has five categories: Landscape, Wildlife, Close Up, People, and Thermal Features (new category!). Each contestant may enter one submission per category. Judging will be held August 20, 21 and 22 to coincide with Xanterra Job Fairs.
Submit entries to a location recreation office by 5:00 pm on Monday, August 5 for a chance to win money for a top three placing in each of the five categories.
You do not need to print out your entries. You can enter your photos electronically to the rec offices – via email, thumb drive or transferring straight from your phone. All electronic entries must be formatted to fit on 4″x6″ photo paper or they will be disqualified.

Three hundred employees voted to determine their favorite photos from the summer of 2015. This year’s photographs were exceptional. Congratulations to all participants and to the winning photographers.

Yellowstone employees know how to photograph their beloved park. So it’s no wonder the Employee Photo Contest showcased incredible images! The judges had it tough with so many quality choices. A coyote on the prowl, glowing sunset skies, and skiers shredding the backcountry were a few photos that caught the judges’ eyes and earned their worthy photographers cash prizes. Congratulations to our winners and to everyone who entered.

Share What You’ve Seen by February 10
For the aspiring Ansel Adams in you the Winter Employee Photo Contest is back! Whether you’re new to the contest or a veteran winner, turn your photos into the Snow Lodge or Parkwide recreation office by February 10 for a chance to win. There are three categories: Wildlife, Scenic, and People. The prizes for the top three in each category are: $50, $35, and $25. Judging will take place in the Mammoth Xanterra Employee Dining Room and the Snow Lodge Employee Pub. Judging dates and times will be announced later.
As with all YCERP events, employees (and their immediate family members) of NPS, YPSS, DNC, Medcor, and Xanterra are welcome to participate.

Judging Begins Tuesday August 19th
The 250 plus photos entered into the photo contest have been pre-screened and will be ready to judge at five locations throughout the park beginning next week. Thanks to everyone who submitted entries–we know it’s not always easy printing photos when you live in Yellowstone!
